Note that there is a slight difference in the pronunciation in Dutch to speak in the Netherlands or in Belgium. The Belgian people use more softer sounds, especially the consonants, than the Dutch people. For more information, see Differences between Flemish and Dutch.

In both countries the same language is written, although the choice of words differs sligthly. The Dutch people tend to use English words for 'new' words, and the Flemish people translate nearly every word into their own language. Nevertheless, it is no problem to understand eachother.
